I know some people who have natural wings, but they get another, smaller pair between them. I think they can fly.

Oh. But the wings that you get here, they never grow enough that you can fly?

Not big enough for flight, from what I know...I might ask one of the long time residents about them.

Huh... How long have people been here? You said that everyone wakes up like this, like people aren't born here.

I heard that this is the fourth year since October. Personally, I've been here since the end of August...almost four months for me.

So you don't have any information from before then... Can you move them at all? I know you said nobody can fly with those wings, but do you have any control over them?

Yeah, I can move them since they're attached to my body.

Yes. But they flooded the entire place and gave everyone gills; mine just aren't real gills. I don't need to breathe, but I wasn't waterproof before I got them. No idea how it works, it just does.

Just a second, I've got to get one more of these things. Maybe something with cinnamon...

I decided I should get you one, too, and then I remembered I should try to see if I can bring anything back with me for the others. Anything big'd probably be taken away, but maybe just something little...

Something small...like fruit tarts?

Yeah, we don't. For a long time they had the exact same food for us in the cafeteria every single day; fruit was the closest thing to anything sweet. They've started rotating things by the day of the week, though, which is nice.

I'm just banking on this sugar cookie. It's probably a long shot; people find they've gotten weapons back that they had at home all the time and then they've been taken away the next day. So it might not work.

Sounds boring until the menu change. [Yeah, anyone would get sick of it, even after the initial happiness of eating food other than rations and whatever they can grab.]

Even in the time when they got their weapons, it's still hard to escape? [Finding their stuff, only to be taken away, again. Again. And again.] Won't know until you try.

Yeah, it really was.

You wouldn't think so, but it is. One guy couldn't even blow down the walls with dynamite. You never know, though, something might change.

Wow, those have a much nicer design than ours do. Ours have less of a text aspect, most people use voice or video.

[Opens it to show the journal's inside. There's buttons and a small camera, as well as the space for writing it.] You can either write, use voice or video. They never seem to run out of paper.
